ISA Coaching and Professional Development

Multiple factors contribute to a student’s overall academic performance, but among school-related elements, teachers matter the most, followed closely the importance of school leadership. That means supporting educators’ professional learning is just as important as supporting students’ academic learning. When schools invest in high-quality, individualized coaching, they provide educators with ongoing professional development as part of their day-to-day work. ISA’s coaching and professional development accelerate student learning outcomes by supporting educators as they further enhance, develop, and refine their practice.

Leadership Coaching

Leadership Coaching: We help principals and other school leaders set and prioritize schoolwide goals and design, implement, and monitor the strategies used to achieve them.

Instructional Coaching

Instructional Coaching: ISA supports teachers as they develop and implement instructional plans that help students master and apply learning in all content areas. Our support includes the creation of inquiry-based lessons, activities, and assessments with the teacher; modeling techniques that encourage students to reflect on their learning; and observing the teacher in action to provide constructive, nonjudgmental feedback for improvement.

Team Coaching

Team Coaching: ISA helps grade-level and content-focused teams enhance their collaboration and coordination on identified student performance goals, share effective teaching and student engagement strategies, and support one another and foster student belonging across the school.

Distributed Counseling™

Distributed Counseling™: Distributed Counseling is how we characterize those supportive relationships with staff members who act as advocates/mentors and work to create spaces for students to expand their agency and become better equipped to take active roles in shaping and influencing their current schooling experiences. ISA collaborates with educators and counselors to implement peer mediation strategies, restorative justice programs, case management protocols, and postsecondary advising for students.

Virtual Coaching

Virtual Coaching: ISA can provide virtual support, tailored to a school’s specific needs, in place of or in addition to in-person coaching and professional development services.

ISA’s team consists of experienced former classroom teachers, school and district administrators as well as state education leaders. Our team brings authenticity, knowledge, and wisdom of real-life school experiences to the work of coaching. ISA does not tell educators how to teach or how to lead. We support them in reflecting on and deepening their practice. Through our hands-on, one-on-one and team-based coaching we can transform the culture of a school and improve student outcomes.
